Topics:
TOPIC 1: AI-at-the-Edge – convergence between Data and AI continuum, Cloud, Edge, IoT technologiesAI plays a vital role in manufacturing, particularly when used at the edge, as emphasised in AI REGDIO 5.0. The goal is to showcase how edge-to-cloud computing can enhance manufacturing by leveraging frameworks and AI models that enable local execution, offering benefits like low latency, reduced data transfer, and enhanced data privacy.
In dynamic environments, data quality and pipeline monitoring are critical, requiring new approaches such as data observation techniques. Selected experiments must focus on real-life cases that involve AI execution at the edge or in hybrid cloud-edge infrastructures, while addressing data quality challenges. Applicants are encouraged to deploy edge environments, such as AI-REDGIO Open Hardware, and contribute AI models to the AI-on-Demand platform.
Applications of interest include, but are not limited to, the use of AI for predictive and prescriptive maintenance, automation, manufacturing operations planning, waste reduction, energy efficiency, etc.

TOPIC 2: Industry 5.0 Human Centric and Sustainable-Circular Manufacturing and WISE principlesIndustry 5.0 focuses on sustainability, circularity and resilience, prioritising human well-being alongside productivity and efficiency. It aims to integrate humans into factories through distributed production, intelligent supply chains and hyper-customisation, fostering flexibility and adaptability.
Experiments should explore how Industry 5.0 and human-centred digitalisation improve worker well-being, safety and environmental sustainability, showcasing real-world use cases. Emphasis should be placed on AI solutions for circular manufacturing, addressing problems like data quality and creating trustworthy AI models.
Experiments should solve real industry challenges, demonstrating measurable business and technical benefits. Industry 5.0 envisions a workplace where humans and AI-driven machines collaborate closely considering ethical and regulatory. The "WISE" aspects should be a focus, ensuring human rights are respected in the shift towards collaborative human-machine environments.
